Inspired by the wild hot sounds of 1930s/40s Harlem and Chicago jazz, The Big Five have established themselves as Berlin’s most authentic swing-era combo. Combining a driving rhythm section, a fiery horn-led frontline and dynamic song-arrangements, this international band makes a deep-dive into the lesser-known repertoire of the Swing Golden Age - as well as a strong emphasis on original compositions. Ranging in size from the core quintet to the full septet lineup.
The Big Five are veterans of Berlin’s famed Lindy-hop and Balboa dance-halls and know how to turn a mild-mannered dance party into a raging frenzy of swing-outs. With their sharp attire and an intense passion for authentic swing-era jazz, these cats will certainly make you Jump for Joy!

ABOUT VASSILIKI:
Meet Vassiliki Papadopoulou, a dancer since age 8, who discovered her passion for Lindy Hop and Vernacular Jazz at 19. With boundless energy and creativity, she has danced non-stop, attending workshops worldwide. Based in Athens, she shares her love for Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz as a dedicated instructor with the Rhythm Hoppers’ team, finding freedom, energy, and joy in these expressive and inspiring dance forms. Don’t miss the chance to learn from her expertise!

Viktor Lillard’s journey took an unexpected turn when Lindy Hop and Authentic Jazz dance captured his heart in Ohio back in 2013, igniting a profound love for Jazz that continues to grow. Infused with diverse influences, Viktor brings a unique dance flavor to his teachings, spreading the joy of dance while delving into Jazz’s rich history and cultural roots. Teaching on three continents, Viktor combines musical knowledge and creative insights to help dancers find comfort in basics, expand boundaries, and, above all, experience the sheer joy of swing.
